Regenerative Agriculture and How It Can Help Our Planet

With the world experiencing several climate crises, from rising temperatures to increased precipitation, regenerative agriculture could be the answer to a better future for the health of our planet.

Regenerative agriculture is a way of farming in a style that connects and nourishes both people and the earth, though practices and methods will depend on specific farmers and regions. With this said, there are no set-in-stone rules to follow with the main principles being to restore the health of the ecosystem for future generations to enjoy and benefit from.

Though this way of farming recently surfaced, it’s not a recent idea and has actually been practiced by past cultures around the world for thousands of years.

Climate change is becoming a problem many of us cannot avoid unless we change our ways and regenerative agriculture resurfaced as an answer to this problem.

When it comes to growing our food, the health of the soil is important with many people, especially farmers, depending on it for their livelihoods. But the soil’s health also determines the quality of the food we consume: the healthier the soil, the higher quality of food we get.

However, with the climate crisis, it has led to polluted runoffs and erosion which severely affects the health of the soil and in turn, affects crop growth thus leading to loss of production.

Regenerative agriculture is an approach that can lead to better crops and better yield for farmers. If more farmers turn to using regenerative methods, organic matter will be able to build up over time and help to regenerate the soil while also fighting against climate change at the same time.
